Established in 1993, Creatures’ Comforts is the product of years of “gratis pet sitting” for friends, family, and neighbors on the part of its’ founder, Sharon Carter. Following a twenty year career marketing radio stations, Carter decided it was time to market her own enterprise and make a living that required “more interaction with four-leggers, than with their two-legged counterparts.”
“I’ve never regretted that decision,” said Carter, “although the first couple of years required a great deal of discipline on my part, since I took a considerable pay cut! Even so, the development of Creatures’ Comforts has been an unbelievably rewarding experience, hard work and all.”
In addition to overseeing the daily operation of her business, Carter does many of the jobs herself, having developed strong bonds with a number of animal clients (and sometimes their owners) over the years. “I’ve come to consider lots of my human clients as friends, and my animal clients as

adopted children,” said Carter. “There is a definite reason that I chose the pet world in which to earn my livelihood.”
Several independent contractors, and one full-time employee complete the staff of Creatures’ Comforts. Although they come from varied backgrounds, the common denominator for all is their respect for animals and their enthusiasm when working with them.
Carter lives in the Heights with her “feline family”. In addition to running her business, she continues to do charity work with feral cat colonies, working in association with Houston’s Spay Neuter Assistance Program. She also has embarked on a continuing education program in feline behavior.
Creatures’ Comforts’ primary service area includes the Heights, Montrose, Garden Oaks, River Oaks, Oak Forest, Bellaire, West University, the Galleria, the West End, Southhampton, Timbergrove, Lazybrook, Downtown, Midtown, Shepherd Park Plaza, Lindale Park, Pearland, Cinco Ranch and the Medical Center.
Rates vary depending upon the geographic area and the complexity of the job. Carter is available for consultation at 713/862-1844 or 713/301-1061.
